Solar technology is racing along at the speed of light, with advancements announced daily, and manufacturers integrating their products into all manner of consumables. LED and solar harmonize well, as LEDs use a significantly less amount of energy than traditional light fixtures. Solar-powered lights contain a solar cell, photoresistor, Ni-Cad rechargeable battery, and LED light. Each light’s solar cell produces energy, charging the battery during the day. Solar-powered lights stop producing energy at night, so the photoresistor, which detects the absence of light, activates the battery, turning on the LED light.

New Construction
The infrastructure for bringing light to remote areas is expensive and intrusive to the surroundings. Solar lighting is cost-effective in that there is little up front cost and no recurring monthly energy bills. The expense of trenching, running cables and tapping into the communities power grid can runs into the tens of thousands of dollars. Where the same light source can be achieved with a Solar LED product, that may require a simple pole or other structure to mount to.

TESTIMONIALS
Solar lights are powered by direct sunlight, they need to be cleaned periodically from dust or mud, so they can easily store energy for the night. The LED light bulbs will run up to 100,000 hours each but are not replaceable. Ni-Cad rechargeable batteries will last about two years if you take care of them and periodically allow your lights to recharge. Replacement batteries are available from the manufacturer or online.
